False Claims Linking UAE to Sudan Atrocities Debunked

A fresh wave of online disinformation has falsely accused the UAE of involvement in alleged genocide in Sudan’s El Fasher region. The claims spread on X after reports of mass killings in late October by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), with users sharing a video and satellite image purportedly showing evidence of atrocities “caused by the UAE.”

However, investigations quickly exposed the deception. France 24 verified that the widely shared Google Earth image was years old and actually depicted livestock, not bodies or mass graves. Despite this, Islamist-linked accounts continued circulating the false claims to shift attention away from the RSF’s documented role in the violence.

Analysts warn that such coordinated misinformation campaigns aim to manipulate public opinion and distort facts surrounding Sudan’s internal conflict.
