The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has approved a major new initiative to streamline regional travel by allowing citizens to complete all immigration, customs, and security procedures at a single checkpoint. Initially expected to launch between the UAE and Bahrain, the “one-stop travel system” aims to remove duplication across airports and borders, improving mobility for millions of Gulf residents.
Authorities say the system will integrate databases, unify screening protocols, and enable faster passenger processing without compromising security. It is considered a key step toward deeper regional economic and logistical integration.
For business travelers, especially professionals who frequently move between GCC cities for meetings, projects, or conferences, the new system promises shorter queues, reduced airport stress, and smoother cross-border movement. As regional economies deepen cooperation, officials expect the initiative to boost trade, tourism, and labour productivity across the Gulf.
