Abu Dhabi has officially launched commercial driverless taxi services, marking a major step toward autonomous mobility in the Middle East. Following extensive trials, Uber and WeRide have rolled out the first fleet of fully autonomous vehicles on Yas Island, where residents can now book rides through UberX, Uber Comfort, or the new Autonomous category.

The Integrated Transport Centre previously issued operating permits to WeRide and AutoGo-K2 for Level 4 autonomous vehicles after meeting strict safety and testing requirements. By October 2025, WeRide robotaxis had logged more than 800,000 kilometres in Abu Dhabi, while AutoGo-K2 achieved full unmanned certification within months of deployment.

Abu Dhabi’s transport future continues to expand, with flying taxis set to launch in 2026 at an estimated Dhs300–Dhs350 for inner-city routes.
