IndiGo seeks temporary FDTL exemption amid rising flight cancellations

IndiGo has asked India’s aviation regulator for temporary exemptions from specific Flight Duty Time Limitations affecting its A320 fleet, as the airline faces a surge in cancellations across major routes. The carrier told the Directorate General of Civil Aviation that the relaxation is needed until 10 February 2026 to stabilise operations and restore schedule reliability. The DGCA said it expects IndiGo’s network performance to normalise by that date.

The airline, India’s largest by market share, has struggled in recent weeks with crew shortages and operational strain, leading to widespread disruption for passengers. IndiGo said the exemption would allow it to optimise crew deployment and reduce further cancellations during the peak travel season.
