DUBAI, Dec 19, 2025 — In a swift response to the peak of the “Al Bashayer” storm, UAE leadership has prioritized public safety by mandating remote work for the public sector today. Under the directives of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, all Dubai government employees whose roles do not require physical presence are working from home. Similar mandates were issued in Abu Dhabi and Ras Al Khaimah as unstable weather brought winds of up to 65 km/h.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has strongly urged private sector firms to adopt flexible measures, emphasizing employee health during these exceptional conditions. With over 90% of government roles operating digitally, the move showcases the UAE’s robust “digital-first” infrastructure, ensuring the economy remains functional despite severe disruptions. Authorities continue to monitor the situation, urging all residents to avoid flood-prone areas as the storm persists through the weekend.
