The UAE has signed a $15 million agreement with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees to strengthen humanitarian assistance for millions affected by Sudan’s ongoing civil war. The deal, signed by the UAE Aid Agency, will fund the Protection and Assistance for People Affected by the Conflict in Sudan project throughout 2026.
The initiative focuses on life-saving support for displaced communities, including protection services, shelter, healthcare and education. Sudan’s conflict, which began in April 2023, has killed tens of thousands, displaced more than 12 million people and left about 25 million facing acute hunger.
The agreement builds on the UAE’s broader commitment, with $784 million already allocated since the war began, reinforcing its role as a leading global humanitarian donor.
