President Sheikh Mohamed will begin a working visit to India on Monday, during which he is set to meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss key areas of bilateral co-operation, state news agency Wam reported.
The visit reflects the deep-rooted friendship between the UAE and India, which dates back to the formation of the Emirates and has continued to strengthen across political, economic and cultural spheres.
The UAE is home to more than 3.5 million Indian nationals, making them the country’s largest expatriate community.
In April, the two nations signed eight initial agreements covering sectors including logistics, health care, infrastructure, higher education, maritime services and private sector engagement. The pacts were signed during the official visit of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai.
Mr Modi last visited the UAE in 2024, addressing tens of thousands of Indian citizens and attending major international events in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
