Trump unhappy with Iranian proposal, report says

US President Donald Trump is said to be unhappy with an Iranian proposal because it does not address Tehran’s nuclear programme, an American official told Reuters.

Mr Trump discussed the proposal with his aides on Monday, the White House said, without providing further details.

CNN also cited two people familiar as saying that Mr Trump was unlikely to accept the plan.

It remains unclear what the next steps will be as reopening the Strait of Hormuz without addressing US demands over Iran’s nuclear programme could weaken American leverage in talks, officials have said.
