Israel and Hezbollah continue attacks after US truce announcement

Israeli artillery shelling struck areas around Lebanon’s Borj Qalaouiyeh and Deir Kifa areas before dawn, despite a ceasefire announced by US President Donald Trump.

An Israeli strike near Jabal Amel Hospital in Tyre also destroyed a branch of Bank Audi and injured 12 people, Lebanon’s civil defence said. Rescue teams took the injured to the hospital.

Israeli warplanes reportedly fired more than four missiles at the area surrounding the hospital, while artillery shelling also hit the town of Deir Aames, in the Tyre district.

Meanwhile, Hezbollah said it carried out attacks against Israeli forces in southern Lebanon and Israel launched strikes across the region, after rejecting the ceasefire. It said it would continue fighting unless Israeli forces withdraw from southern Lebanon.

In a series of statements, Hezbollah said its fighters attacked Israeli troops and vehicles around the Beaufort Castle area, Rashaf and Qantara, confronted an Israeli force moving in the town of Khiam, and attacked an Israeli drone over Wadi Al Hujair. The group also said it detonated explosive devices against an Israeli force attempting to advance towards the eastern outskirts of Ghandouriyeh.
