Emirati women are set to enter ADNOC Technical Academy’s training programme for the first time, marking a significant step towards expanding female participation in the UAE’s energy sector. The first group will begin a 24-month diploma programme next month, combining classroom education with practical training at ADNOC operational sites across the country.
Each intake will accommodate up to 50 Emirati women, with around 250 female technicians expected to graduate between 2028 and 2030. Participants will receive specialist training in electrical maintenance, instrumentation and control maintenance, mechanical maintenance, and oil and gas processing.
The initiative comes as the UAE continues efforts to increase the participation of Emirati women in technical and industrial careers traditionally dominated by men. By providing hands-on experience alongside academic qualifications, the programme is designed to develop a skilled national workforce capable of supporting the country’s energy industry.
The landmark intake was announced ahead of Emirati Women’s Day, underscoring the UAE’s broader focus on empowering women and creating opportunities across strategic sectors. The programme could also help strengthen the pipeline of highly trained Emirati technical professionals for the energy industry.
