The United Arab Emirates has taken another significant step in advancing its digital infrastructure by granting Starlink a 10-year General Space Services Licence to provide satellite broadband internet services across the country. The licence was granted by the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) on August 28, 2026.
The move adds a new satellite-based layer to the UAE’s already advanced digital ecosystem, complementing its extensive fibre-optic and 5G networks. The initiative is expected to expand connectivity options and further strengthen the resilience, readiness and continuity of the country’s communications infrastructure.
Under the licence, Starlink will be able to provide satellite internet services to individuals, businesses and government entities. Connectivity will also support important sectors such as maritime and aviation transport, energy, logistics and emergency response.
