The UAE has launched the National Programme for Advanced Sciences and Technologies, creating a new national pathway that connects education, scientific research, innovation and talent development with the country’s strategic and advanced industries.
The programme was established following a decision by UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on August 30, 2026. It is designed to develop specialised national talent and strengthen the UAE’s capabilities in advanced science and technology.
A key focus is building a strong pipeline of specialists equipped for future industries and emerging technologies. The programme will also connect universities, research institutions and innovation centres more closely with industrial priorities, helping turn research and technical ideas into solutions that can be developed, manufactured and scaled.
The first phase will include six key tracks: Technical Education and National Talent, National Service, Flagship Initiative, Global Challenge, Global Talent Attraction, and Technical Research and Innovation.
A Higher Committee chaired by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan will provide strategic direction and oversee the programme. An Executive Committee and dedicated programme office will support implementation, partnerships and progress monitoring.
The initiative forms part of the UAE’s wider vision to strengthen innovation, develop future-ready expertise and enhance the competitiveness of Emirati products in strategic sectors.
By bringing education, research and industry closer together, the programme aims to transform knowledge and innovation into practical capabilities that support the UAE’s long-term development and position as a global centre for advanced technology and industry.
