UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan will begin a state visit to Germany on September 9, 2026, marking an important step in strengthening the long-standing partnership between the two countries.
During the visit, Sheikh Mohamed is scheduled to meet German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Chancellor Friedrich Merz. Discussions will focus on expanding cooperation between the UAE and Germany, particularly across economic and development sectors, while advancing shared interests.
The high-level meetings will take place within the framework of the countries’ strategic partnership, reflecting the growing depth of relations between Abu Dhabi and Berlin. Economic cooperation, investment and development are expected to remain important areas of discussion as both nations look for new opportunities to expand collaboration.
The UAE and Germany have maintained diplomatic relations since 1972, with their partnership developing steadily across business, energy, technology, education, culture and other sectors. Bilateral trade exceeded $15.5 billion in 2025, highlighting the significant economic connection between the two countries. Thousands of German businesses also maintain a presence in the UAE.
The visit will also provide an opportunity for the two sides to exchange views on regional and international developments and matters of mutual interest. Germany has described the upcoming discussions as an opportunity to further develop the strategic partnership and economic relationship while working together on regional stability.
