Abu Dhabi Police have successfully recovered and returned AED 140 million to victims of cyber fraud over the past two years. The amount was retrieved from 15,642 online scam cases, reflecting the growing efficiency of the emirate’s cybercrime investigation and digital forensics units. The police explained that swift action, public cooperation, and coordination with local and international banks played a vital role in tracing and freezing stolen funds before they could be transferred abroad.
The announcement came alongside the launch of the sixth edition of the “Be Cautious” campaign, which aims to raise awareness about emerging online scams such as phishing, fake investment opportunities, fraudulent property sales, counterfeit job offers, and remote access app traps. The campaign encourages residents to verify sources before sharing personal or banking information and to immediately report suspicious messages or calls.
Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to combating cybercrime, strengthening digital security, and protecting individuals and businesses from online financial threats.
