Thousands of weeping Iranian mourners took to the streets as the coffins of late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and slain family members were on display in Tehran.

According to footage by Iranian state media, thousands of people dressed in black were seen on the streets leading to the Grand Mosalla where the funeral ceremony is set to take place.

Mourners wept at the sight, with some chanting “Our word is one! Revenge! Revenge!”.

Some people were seen carrying banners and flags, while billboards across the city bore Khamenei’s image. Crowds of men rhythmically beat their chests in mourning, a common practice at Shiite funerals.

They were there to pay their respects to the late leader.
