Indian and UAE forces have launched Desert Cyclone-II, a high-intensity bilateral military exercise aimed at strengthening joint operational capabilities. The Indian Army contingent arrived in Abu Dhabi on December 17, with drills commencing a day later and running until December 30.
The exercise focuses on urban warfare, counter-terrorism operations under a UN mandate, heliborne assaults and unmanned aerial systems integration, reflecting evolving hybrid threat environments. More than 200 personnel from each side are participating, alongside over 10 UAS platforms.
The Indian Army is coordinating through HQ Integrated Defence Staff, while the UAE Land Forces are led by the Presidential Guard Commander. Observed by GCC military officials, the exercise reinforces regional security cooperation and deepens long-term defence and technology partnerships across the Indo-Gulf corridor.
