Dubai Mallathon has concluded its second edition with a record 160,475 participants, highlighting Dubai’s growing focus on making physical activity accessible to people across the community.

Held from June 15 to September 15, the three-month initiative transformed shopping malls and other major destinations across Dubai into spaces for walking, running and community sporting activities. Participants collectively recorded more than 290 million steps during the event.

Organised by the Dubai Sports Council in collaboration with the Ministry of Defence, the initiative welcomed people of different ages and nationalities, including professional athletes, amateur runners, families, beginners and senior citizens.

The second edition expanded to more than eight locations, including Dubai Mall, Dubai Hills Mall, Mall of the Emirates, City Centre Mirdif, Dubai Festival City Mall and City Centre Deira. Dubai International Airport, DIFC and Ibn Battuta Mall also joined the programme for the first time.

The closing programme featured a full 42.195-kilometre marathon and a 21-kilometre half-marathon inside Dubai Mall, alongside more than 14 weekly races held across participating locations.

Launched by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in 2025, Dubai Mallathon has continued to grow as a citywide community fitness initiative. Its first edition attracted more than 40,000 participants, making the latest turnout a significant expansion in participation.

The initiative supports Dubai’s wider quality-of-life and social development goals by encouraging regular exercise and making sport part of everyday life.
