Green Fuel Breakthrough in the UAE: ENOC and MENA Biofuels Launch Landmark SAF Ecosystem

1 Min Read

The UAE has taken a major leap in sustainable aviation with ENOC signing a strategic partnership with MENA Biofuels to develop a waste-based Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) supply chain. The project aims to accelerate the country’s push toward cleaner energy and a fully circular fuel economy.

Under the agreement, a new SAF production facility will be developed using waste-derived feedstock, supporting both environmental goals and long-term energy security. Phase I of the plant is set to produce approximately 125 million litres of SAF annually, with Phase II doubling capacity to 250 million litres per year.

Energy and aviation professionals view this as a transformative step, positioning the UAE as a regional leader in decarbonized air travel. The initiative not only reduces aviation emissions but also strengthens local fuel independence by transforming waste into high-value energy.
