Dubai is hosting the prestigious 27th General Conference of the International Council of Museums (ICOM), bringing together more than 4,500 cultural leaders, museum directors, researchers and policymakers. Held under the theme “The Future of Museums in Rapidly Changing Communities,” the event focuses on how global institutions can adapt to digital transformation, climate pressures and evolving public expectations.
The conference includes high-level panels, policy workshops and exhibitions showcasing innovations in curation, AI-powered preservation and sustainable museum design. UAE officials say the event reflects the nation’s growing status as a regional cultural hub.
For the global heritage sector, ICOM 2025 is a platform for shaping new standards and reinforcing collaboration across countries adapting to a fast-changing world.
