Iran has loaded crude equivalent to about 4.6 million barrels at its export terminals, according to ship-tracking firm TankerTrackers.com, in a move that could temporarily ease pressure on storage capacity.
If confirmed, the shipments would free up several days’ worth of onshore storage, the company said. It added in a post on X that a further four million barrels “appear to have exfiltrated [the] US blockade line”. TankerTrackers uses satellite imagery to monitor vessel movements and cargo flows.
The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
An Iranian official warned on Sunday that Tehran would retaliate against infrastructure if its oil facilities were targeted during the blockade. The US imposed the measures on April 13 in an effort to curb Iran’s oil exports and pressure it back to negotiations.
Despite the restrictions, several tankers have continued to enter and leave Iranian ports, suggesting enforcement challenges remain.
