Israeli troops deepened their invasion of Lebanon on Tuesday, advancing beyond the “yellow line” that marks out their occupied territory.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the Israeli army was operating with “large forces on the ground” and “fortifying the security zone”.
An Israeli military official said the aim was to “remove direct threats” to Israeli citizens and troops, who have struggled to cope with Hezbollah drone attacks.
Lebanese official media reported air strikes and shelling, including an attack near a dam.
