Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam said the resumption of negotiations in Washington underscores the need to consolidate a ceasefire across all of Lebanon and pursue a diplomatic solution to the conflict.
In a statement on Wednesday, Mr Salam said talks remain the least costly option for Lebanon and its people, describing diplomacy as the shortest path to ending the occupation and enabling displaced residents of southern Lebanon to return home.
He stressed the importance of unifying national efforts under the authority of the Lebanese state to advance these objectives.
“The requirement remains to consolidate a ceasefire across all of Lebanon,” Mr Salam said.
