More than 16,000 visitors took part in Abu Dhabi City Municipality’s “Date Harvest Season” celebrations, highlighting the UAE’s rich agricultural heritage and the enduring cultural importance of the date palm.
The celebrations were held at Al Rahbah Plaza and Al Khatim Park, bringing together families, residents, farmers and visitors for a programme combining Emirati traditions, education and community activities.
Al Rahbah Plaza welcomed more than 10,000 visitors, who explored traditional customs and crafts connected with the date palm. The programme highlighted the tree’s important place in Emirati life, where it represents generosity, sustainability and a strong connection to the land.
A similar celebration at Al Khatim Park attracted approximately 6,000 visitors, particularly farm owners and residents from the surrounding area. The event provided opportunities to showcase Emirati farms, traditional crafts and locally produced goods, while also featuring the “Tabshourat Al Rutab” competitions.
The celebrations were organised with support from several strategic partners, reflecting broad cooperation across government, agriculture, business and community organisations. Visitors of different ages enjoyed interactive experiences designed to make Emirati agricultural traditions accessible and engaging.
The events also supported local farmers and producers by giving them a platform to present their products and connect with the wider community.
The strong turnout demonstrates continued public interest in the UAE’s agricultural traditions and the cultural legacy of date-palm cultivation. Through initiatives such as the Date Harvest Season, Abu Dhabi continues to celebrate its heritage while encouraging sustainability, community participation and appreciation for locally produced goods.
