Pakistan army chief arrives in Tehran for US-Iran mediation efforts

Pakistani army chief Field Marshal Asim Munir and ⁠Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi ⁠arrived in Tehran on Wednesday as ‌ ​part of Pakistan’s continuing mediation efforts between the US ​and ‌Iran, the Pakistani army said.

Iranian state media said that they were welcomed by Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

The Pakistani army chief is set to deliver US messages to Iranian officials before a possible second round of talks.

Earlier in the day, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said exchanges of messages continued after the Iranian delegation returned home from ​US-Iranian ‌talks ⁠that were ​hosted ​by Pakistan ‌on Saturday.
