President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed has approved a unified healthcare system that guarantees comprehensive medical insurance coverage for Emirati citizens across all seven emirates of the UAE. The initiative removes previous restrictions that tied health insurance access to a citizen’s home emirate, allowing Emiratis to receive medical care anywhere in the country.
UAE officials said the new framework aims to strengthen universal access to high-quality healthcare while improving integration between federal and local health systems. Ahmed bin Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of Health and Prevention, described the move as part of a national vision focused on citizens’ wellbeing, prevention, sustainability, and innovation.
The reform is expected to enhance the resilience of the UAE’s healthcare sector and support long-term health outcomes through a more efficient and connected national medical system.
