Rubio says Iran has missed ‘multiple’ chances to reach nuclear deal

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said today Iran has missed many opportunities to reach a deal on its nuclear programme, as talks between Washington and Tehran over a lasting agreement to end the conflict remain stalled.

“Iran has failed to take advantage of multiple opportunities to reach agreement with us on [its] nuclear programme,” Mr Rubio said during a visit to Greece.

Earlier, US Vice President JD Vance said Iran must make a “meaningful” reduction in its nuclear enrichment capacity to meet Washington’s demands and end the seven-month war.

Mr Vance, in an interview with Reuters, said an agreement could not rely on Iranian assurances of future nuclear drawdowns, arguing Tehran must take concrete steps to reduce its enrichment capacity.
