Oil giant Saudi Aramco has instructed staff to evacuate its headquarters in Dhahran and work remotely, sources have told Reuters.

It is the first time Aramco has moved to evacuate its headquarters since ‌the start of the Iran war. Reuters cited six people with knowledge of the matter.

Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthis caused extensive damage when they struck the company’s headquarters earlier this month, with fire spreading across several floors.

The building hosts an operations centre that helps the world’s largest oil company oversee onshore and offshore oil rigs, refineries, export terminals and thousands of kilometres of pipelines.
