Starting November 1, 2025, Sharjah Police will begin enforcing dedicated lanes for heavy vehicles, buses, and motorcycles to improve road safety and traffic flow across the emirate. Under the new system, heavy vehicles and buses must use the far-right lane on major and secondary roads. Motorcycles, including delivery bikes, will be restricted to specific lanes depending on the number of lanes on each road on four-lane roads, they may use the third and fourth lanes from the right; on three-lane roads, the middle and right lanes; and on two-lane roads, only the right lane. Traffic patrols, radars, and surveillance cameras will monitor compliance around the clock. Violations will result in fines of up to AED 1,500 and 12 black points for heavy vehicles. The initiative aims to reduce congestion, prevent accidents, and promote better lane discipline among all road users in Sharjah.
