The United Arab Emirates demonstrated the effectiveness of its air-defence capabilities after successfully detecting two ballistic missiles launched toward the Gulf region on Tuesday, August 18, amid heightened regional tensions.
According to the UAE Defence Ministry, both missiles were detected by the country’s advanced air-defence systems and assessed to pose a potential threat to maritime traffic. The missiles were successfully neutralized, ultimately falling into the sea. One came down within UAE territorial waters, while the other fell outside them.
The successful detection and interception highlight the UAE’s high level of preparedness and its ability to respond rapidly to emerging security threats. Iran has rejected the UAE’s claim that the missiles originated from Iranian territory, with Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei calling the accusation baseless.
Nevertheless, the UAE’s swift response has underscored its strong defensive capabilities and preparedness. The successful detection and neutralization of the missile threat provide reassurance that the country remains vigilant and capable of protecting its security and maritime environment during periods of heightened regional tension.
