The United Arab Emirates is expanding its automatic recognition system for university qualifications, making it faster and easier for graduates to have their degrees officially recognised without going through a separate application process.
The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research said the initiative now covers 41 universities across the UAE, with 20,536 qualifications automatically recognised as of mid-August 2026. The programme is being expanded as part of the UAE’s wider efforts to reduce government bureaucracy and accelerate digital transformation.
Under the system, participating universities are digitally integrated with the ministry. Once an eligible student graduates, the qualification can be recognised automatically, removing the need for graduates to submit a separate recognition request and wait for traditional manual processing.
The ministry is also working to bring more institutions into the programme. According to officials, 45 additional higher education institutions are preparing to join, while electronic integration with 18 universities is currently being completed. The initiative ultimately aims to cover 102 higher education institutions across the UAE.
The system also includes digital verification through a QR code, allowing employers, educational institutions and other relevant organisations to quickly confirm the authenticity and recognition status of a qualification.
The expansion is expected to benefit graduates entering the workforce, applying for further studies or completing other professional procedures. By reducing paperwork and manual intervention, the UAE hopes to create a more seamless experience for students and graduates while strengthening trust in its higher education system.
