UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met with European Council President António Costa in Abu Dhabi to discuss developments in Gaza, regional stability, and ways to strengthen UAE–EU relations. The two leaders emphasized the urgent need to maintain the Gaza ceasefire, ensure the unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid, and work toward a comprehensive and lasting peace based on the two-state solution. Both called for renewed diplomatic efforts to prevent further escalation and alleviate civilian suffering.
The meeting also highlighted growing economic cooperation between the UAE and the European Union. Discussions covered the progress of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which aims to enhance trade, investment, and innovation across sectors such as renewable energy, logistics, and technology. President Sheikh Mohamed reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to deepening ties with the EU, describing the partnership as key to promoting shared prosperity and global stability.
President Costa commended the UAE’s role as a reliable and strategic partner in the region, citing its contributions to peace mediation, humanitarian relief, and sustainable growth. The talks further addressed broader Middle East security challenges and the importance of dialogue in resolving conflicts.
The visit reflects the UAE’s expanding diplomatic outreach and the EU’s interest in closer collaboration with Gulf states. By aligning on Gaza’s humanitarian crisis and economic cooperation, both sides signaled a joint commitment to stability, development, and global peace-building efforts.
