UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan received Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye in Abu Dhabi on September 17, during a working visit aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two countries.
The two leaders discussed opportunities to further develop UAE-Senegal relations, with particular attention to investment, economic cooperation and development. Their discussions focused on partnerships that can support the shared development ambitions of both countries and create opportunities for their peoples.
A key topic was the 2026 United Nations Water Conference, which will be co-hosted by the UAE and Senegal in Abu Dhabi later this year. The leaders highlighted water security and related challenges as important priorities for sustainable development in both countries and internationally.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for the two presidents to exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual interest. Sheikh Mohamed reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to strengthening development cooperation with countries across Africa, including Senegal, as part of its broader approach to building partnerships focused on progress and prosperity.
The visit builds on growing UAE-Senegal cooperation across several sectors. Senegalese authorities have highlighted opportunities for a new economic partnership involving finance, infrastructure, energy, agriculture, logistics and digital technology.
The meeting demonstrates the UAE’s continued focus on expanding constructive partnerships across Africa while creating new opportunities for investment and sustainable development.
With the two countries also preparing to co-host a major global water conference, the relationship provides a platform for deeper cooperation on investment, development, sustainability and water security, further strengthening ties between the UAE and Senegal.
