The United Arab Emirates has reiterated its strong support for Somalia’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity during a meeting of the League of Arab States. The statement reflects the UAE’s continued commitment to promoting stability, peace, and political cohesion in Somalia amid ongoing security and development challenges.
Addressing Arab League representatives, the UAE emphasized the importance of collective Arab action in supporting Somalia’s efforts to strengthen state institutions, combat extremism, and advance national reconciliation. The UAE highlighted that Somalia’s stability is vital not only for its own people but also for the security of the wider Horn of Africa and the Arab region.
The statement stressed the need for sustained political dialogue among Somali stakeholders, encouraging inclusive governance and cooperation between federal and regional authorities. It also underlined the importance of respecting Somalia’s sovereignty while providing constructive international and regional support aligned with the priorities of the Somali government.
The UAE reaffirmed its role as a key humanitarian and development partner to Somalia, citing its long-standing contributions in areas such as humanitarian relief, healthcare, education, and infrastructure development. These efforts aim to address urgent needs while supporting long-term recovery and resilience.
In addition, the UAE called for enhanced coordination between Arab states and international partners to support Somalia’s security sector reform and counterterrorism efforts, particularly in addressing threats posed by extremist groups.
The Arab League meeting concluded with renewed consensus on supporting Somalia’s path toward peace and stability.
