The United Arab Emirates has strengthened its commitment to global humanitarian action by signing a new cooperation agreement with the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC). The agreement aims to expand joint efforts to support refugees and displaced communities affected by conflict, natural disasters, and humanitarian crises around the world.
The signing ceremony reflected the shared vision of both parties to enhance emergency response, improve protection for vulnerable populations, and invest in long-term solutions for displaced people. Under the partnership, the UAE and NRC will collaborate on humanitarian relief, shelter assistance, education, livelihoods, and protection programs, with a strong focus on some of the world’s most fragile regions.
Officials highlighted that the agreement aligns with the UAE’s long-standing policy of humanitarian diplomacy, which emphasizes neutrality, rapid assistance, and sustainable development. By working closely with experienced international organizations such as the Norwegian Refugee Council, the UAE seeks to ensure that aid reaches those most in need efficiently and transparently.
The Norwegian Refugee Council, known for its work in conflict and displacement zones, welcomed the partnership as a significant step toward scaling up humanitarian operations. The organization emphasized that cooperation with committed state partners is essential to address the growing global displacement crisis, which continues to affect millions of people worldwide.
This agreement also reflects the UAE’s broader role as a global humanitarian hub, contributing financial support, logistical capacity, and policy leadership. As humanitarian challenges become increasingly complex, the partnership is expected to enhance coordination, innovation, and impact, offering renewed hope and practical assistance to displaced communities striving for safety, dignity, and stability.
