US and Syrian Forces Destroy ISIS Weapons Stockpiles in Southern Syria

US and Syrian forces have carried out a joint operation destroying 15 ISIS weapons sites in Syria’s southern Rif Dimashq province, US Central Command (Centcom) announced on Sunday. The strikes, involving coordinated air attacks and ground demolitions, eliminated more than 130 mortars and rockets, assault rifles, machineguns, anti-tank mines and materials used to build improvised explosive devices. Forces also uncovered and destroyed illicit drugs stored alongside the weapons.

Centcom commander Admiral Brad Cooper said the mission aims to ensure ISIS cannot rebuild or mount external attacks after years of territorial losses. Despite being largely defeated by a US-led coalition, ISIS continues to regroup in remote pockets. The operation follows November talks in Washington between US President Donald Trump and Syrian President Ahmad Al Shara, who pledged deeper anti-ISIS cooperation.
