Year’s largest supermoon set to dazzle UAE skies

1 Min Read

The biggest and brightest supermoon of 2025, known as the “Beaver Moon,” will illuminate the UAE’s night sky on Tuesday, 5 November. This celestial event will see the Moon appear about 14% larger and up to 30% brighter than a typical full moon, as it reaches its closest point to Earth—approximately 356,833 km away, nearly 28,000 km closer than average.

Astronomy groups in Dubai, including the Dubai Astronomy Group, are organizing special viewing events for the public, offering guided stargazing sessions and expert commentary. The Beaver Moon gets its name from Native American traditions, marking the time when beavers prepare for winter by building their lodges and stocking food supplies.

For professionals seeking work-life balance in the GCC, this event presents a unique opportunity to engage with community, photography, and outdoor activities. Tourism and hospitality operators can also leverage the spectacle for experiential marketing and special events.
