The United Arab Emirates has strongly condemned the escalating violence in El Fasher, the capital of Sudan’s North Darfur region, reaffirming its unwavering commitment to supporting regional and international efforts aimed at restoring peace, protecting civilians, and ensuring humanitarian access. As clashes intensify between armed groups, the UAE has reiterated that the safety and dignity of Sudan’s people must remain the international community’s foremost priority.
In an official statement, the UAE expressed deep concern over the “horrific violations” reported across war-torn areas, particularly in El Fasher, where civilian populations continue to bear the brunt of the conflict. The country emphasised that the rise in targeted attacks, displacement, and disruptions to essential services represents a grave threat to regional stability and requires an immediate, coordinated response.
The UAE has consistently advocated for a comprehensive humanitarian cease-fire in Sudan since the outbreak of the civil war. It maintains that halting hostilities is the only viable path toward delivering lifesaving aid, enabling medical treatment, and creating space for diplomatic initiatives to take root. Officials stressed that all parties must uphold international humanitarian law, prioritise the protection of noncombatants, and take urgent measures to prevent further escalation.
Beyond diplomacy, the UAE has played a significant role in providing humanitarian relief to Sudanese communities affected by the conflict. Through the Emirates Red Crescent and its humanitarian partners, the country has delivered food supplies, medicine, shelter materials, and emergency assistance to thousands of displaced families. The UAE has also supported regional mediation platforms, affirming its position that dialogue, accountability, and cooperation are essential to ending the crisis.
The statement underscored that the international community must intensify pressure on armed factions and renew diplomatic momentum to secure a lasting ceasefire. The UAE urged global actors to act decisively, warning that delays in establishing humanitarian corridors and securing safe zones could exacerbate the suffering of civilians already facing shortages of food, water, and medical care.
El Fasher, historically considered a safe haven in Darfur, has recently witnessed some of the most intense clashes of the conflict. Reports indicate widespread displacement as families flee to overcrowded camps or neighbouring regions in search of safety. Aid organisations have struggled to access affected communities due to continued insecurity, heightening fears of a deepening humanitarian disaster.
The UAE’s call for a cease-fire aligns with its broader foreign policy commitment to stability, conflict resolution, and humanitarian stewardship across the region. Emirati officials reiterated that the country will continue working with the United Nations, the African Union, and international partners to facilitate peace efforts, support reconstruction initiatives, and advocate for a political solution that addresses the aspirations of the Sudanese people.
As violence continues to engulf El Fasher, the UAE’s strong condemnation and renewed diplomatic push reflect a clear message: the suffering of civilians must end, humanitarian access must be guaranteed, and the path toward peace cannot be delayed. Through sustained political engagement and humanitarian support, the UAE remains a key regional voice urging an immediate and comprehensive cease-fire in Sudan.
