Zayed Al Katheeri flew the UAE flag high at the 17th Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship, clinching his second black-belt gold in the Men’s Gi 62 kg final. The Emirati defeated Brazil’s Anderson Duarte in a tightly contested bout, securing victory during golden score by earning two critical points — one from a takedown.
His win came in front of a roaring crowd at Mubadala Arena, under the patronage of HH Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The victory symbolizes not just personal triumph but national pride: as the only Emirati in the black-belt division, Al Katheeri’s success highlights the UAE’s growing footprint in global jiu-jitsu — and he dedicated the medal to his family, his coaches, the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, and the nation’s leadership.
