A new report from CrowdStrike warns that identifying the motives behind cyber crime is now critical to effective digital defence. The US-based firm says criminals are becoming more agile and “cloud-conscious”, increasingly using artificial intelligence to sharpen social engineering, influence operations and technical attacks.
Adam Meyers, senior vice president of counter-adversary operations, cautioned that AI is expanding the cyber attack surface and accelerating breaches. The report recorded a 42 per cent rise in zero-day exploits in 2025.
