US Secretary of State Marco Rubio says negotiations over the wording of a potential deal with Iran could “take a few days”.

Speaking to reporters in Jaipur, India, Mr Rubio said diplomatic efforts were continuing, despite heightened regional tensions following the latest US strikes.

“The [Strait of Hormuz has] to be open, it’s going to be open one way or the other, so it needs to be open,” he was quoted by Reuters as saying. He added negotiations on the language of a deal with Iran could “take a few days”.
