UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Russian President Vladimir Putin have maintained close political communication, with regional security, international stability and bilateral cooperation among the key issues discussed. In their recent exchanges, the two leaders addressed developments in the Middle East and the wider implications for peace, international navigation and economic stability.
The discussions reflect the UAE’s increasingly active diplomatic role. Abu Dhabi has sought to maintain communication with major global powers while emphasizing dialogue and de-escalation as tools for managing regional crises. The UAE has also played a humanitarian mediation role in Russia-Ukraine prisoner exchanges, an effort publicly acknowledged by Putin.
For Moscow, relations with the UAE have gained strategic importance. During their August 2025 meeting in Moscow, Putin described the UAE as a friendly country and highlighted growing economic ties.
