Saudi Arabia will continue to support peace and diplomatic solutions, but “will not hesitate to defend itself” and protect its interests, security and stability, Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan has said, after Houthi attacks targeted several Saudi cities.
“We will always support peace and diplomatic solutions, but we will not hesitate to defend ourselves and we will not hesitate to protect our interests,” Prince Faisal said during a press conference with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov.
He warns that the continuation of what he describes as “these practices” and “selfish behaviour” could lead to consequences that the other side “cannot bear”.
Prince Faisal also said Saudi Arabia will support anything that serves its interests and the security and stability of Yemen, stressing the kingdom’s responsibility towards Yemen and the wider region.
“We feel a responsibility towards Yemen, not only for its security and stability, but also for the security and stability of the region, and we will use every means to fulfil our duties,” he said.
