UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan led the nation’s Rulers and Crown Princes in offering condolences to Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum following the funeral of his brother, Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
Sheikh Ahmed, who died on Monday, was laid to rest at Umm Hurair Cemetery in Dubai after funeral prayers at Zabeel Grand Mosque. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, accompanied by Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed and First Deputy Ruler Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed, attended the prayers.
Sheikh Mohamed was joined at the Zabeel Majlis by the Rulers of Sharjah, Fujairah, Umm Al Quwain and Ras Al Khaimah, along with Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Crown Princes from across the Emirates.
Sheikh Ahmed was remembered for his long public service, including senior roles in Dubai Police and business, as well as his contributions to sport and horse racing. Dubai has declared a 10-day mourning period following his death.
