Abu Dhabi is preparing to make history in European club basketball by hosting the inaugural EuroLeague Basketball SuperCup at Etihad Arena on Yas Island on September 18 and 19, 2026. The new two-day tournament will officially open the European club basketball season and further strengthen Abu Dhabi’s position as a leading destination for major international sporting events.
The first edition will bring together four elite clubs: reigning EuroLeague champions Olympiacos Piraeus, 2025 champions Fenerbahce Tarfin Istanbul, 2026 finalists Real Madrid and UAE representatives Dubai Basketball. The competition will follow a Final Four format, with two semifinals on September 18 before the third-place game and inaugural SuperCup Final on September 19.
The opening night promises major excitement, with Olympiacos facing Fenerbahce at 6pm GST, followed by Dubai Basketball taking on Real Madrid at 9pm GST. The final will be played the following evening at 9pm GST, giving basketball fans the chance to witness the crowning of the competition’s first-ever champion.
The event builds on Abu Dhabi’s successful partnership with Euroleague Basketball, following the emirate’s hosting of the EuroLeague Final Four in 2025. Organisers say the SuperCup will create world-class experiences for fans while attracting international audiences and supporting the local visitor economy.
With four renowned clubs, a new trophy and a global audience, the inaugural SuperCup is set to add another exciting chapter to Abu Dhabi’s growing international sports calendar.
