Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has confirmed that Israel has agreed to a 10-day ceasefire with Lebanon.

Mr Netanyahu said he “agreed to a pause – more precisely, a temporary, 10-day ceasefire – to try to advance the agreement we began discussing during the ambassadors’ meeting in Washington and these peace talks”.

He said Israel would occupy a “security strip” stretching 10km into Lebanese territory, well beyond what it controlled before the latest war.
