Saudi Arabia’s Civil Defence said an alert had been issued through the National Emergency Early Warning Platform in Dammam today to warn residents of a potential hazard.
In a follow-up statement, the agency said the threat had passed and urged the public to continue following official safety instructions.
“For your safety, continue to follow the instructions of the Civil Defence and absolutely avoid gathering in groups or taking photographs,” the statement said.
