The UAE is stepping up its diplomatic engagement at the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA81) in New York, with a high-level delegation led by Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The UAE delegation is participating in the UN General Assembly’s High-Level Week from September 22 to 28, engaging with UN officials, foreign ministers and international partners on major global issues. The UAE has identified conflict resolution, international stability, UN reform, responsible artificial intelligence, climate action and water security among its key priorities.

Sheikh Abdullah has already held meetings with senior officials from France, Bulgaria, Malta, Latvia, Lithuania, Vietnam and the Marshall Islands, discussing opportunities to strengthen cooperation in trade, investment, technology, food security, education, healthcare, AI, renewable energy and climate action.

The UAE has also participated in high-level discussions on regional developments and international cooperation. Sheikh Abdullah joined a meeting convened by US President Donald Trump with Arab and Islamic leaders and foreign ministers, where participants discussed security, stability, development and efforts toward de-escalation.

Another priority for the UAE is preparations for the 2026 United Nations Water Conference, which the UAE will co-host with Senegal in Abu Dhabi from December 8 to 10. The country is also supporting the UN80 Initiative and advocating for a more effective and responsive multilateral system.

Through its broad diplomatic engagement in New York, the UAE is using UNGA81 to strengthen international partnerships and advance cooperation on peace, sustainable development, technology, climate and water security.
