The UAE is investing in its youngest generation through the “Jeel 71” programme, an initiative designed to help Emirati children build life skills while strengthening their connection to national values and identity.
Launched by the National Academy for Childhood Development in cooperation with the Ministry of Family, the 2026 summer edition was introduced under the theme “A Generation Built on Values” as part of the UAE’s Year of Family. The programme brings children into an environment where learning is combined with practical activities, teamwork and creative experiences.
The initiative focuses on developing confidence, responsibility, independence, financial awareness, entrepreneurship, safety skills and creativity. Children also explore Emirati heritage and traditions, giving them an opportunity to understand and appreciate the cultural values that have shaped the country.
The programme includes dedicated activities for boys and girls. Workshops cover financial planning, entrepreneurship, artistic expression, safety and first aid, traditional Emirati practices, hospitality and responsible behaviour. By learning through participation rather than only through classrooms, children can turn knowledge into everyday skills.
The 2026 edition targets children aged 9 to 13 and has been delivered across several emirates, with free Arabic-language workshops. Its expansion reflects the UAE’s focus on supporting families and preparing children for the future.
Named after the UAE’s founding year, 1971, “Jeel 71” represents a forward-looking approach to childhood development—connecting the values of the past with the skills needed for tomorrow. Through initiatives like this, the UAE continues to encourage children to grow into confident, capable and responsible members of society.
