As the US and Iran move closer to reaching an agreement, US Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth has repeated Washington’s threats to strike Tehran.
If negotiators cannot reach a deal, the US is “more than capable” of resuming attacks, Mr Hegseth told the International Institute for Strategic Studies Shangri-La Dialogue.
“Our stockpiles are more than suited for that, both there and around the globe, so we’re in a very good place,” he said.
US President Donald Trump is “patient” and wants to make a “great deal” that ensures Iran does not get a nuclear weapon, Mr Hegseth added.
He spoke hours after Mr Trump said he would make a “final determination” on a proposal to end the Iran war.
