The UAE is expanding healthcare cooperation with the United States through a series of discussions with leading American medical, research and academic institutions in Boston and New York, focusing on advanced medicine, research and innovation.

Led by Ahmed bin Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of Health and Prevention, the UAE delegation explored cooperation in genomic medicine, early disease detection, artificial intelligence, digital health, rare diseases and specialised care, alongside training and developing healthcare professionals. The visit took place on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly.

In Boston, the delegation discussed with Dana-Farber Cancer Institute the development of an early cancer-detection pathway using genomic testing, including risk assessment, genetic counselling, follow-up and referral to treatment. Discussions with Boston Children’s Hospital focused on rare and complex diseases in children, genetic screening and specialised training.

The UAE delegation also met representatives of Mass General Brigham to explore collaboration in digital health, AI, research, innovation and medical training, while a separate meeting was held with Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

In New York, discussions with NewYork-Presbyterian covered physician exchanges, training, research and innovation, including expertise in paediatric cardiology, organ transplantation and gene therapy. The delegation also visited Mount Sinai to explore oncology, proton therapy, immunotherapy and research cooperation.

The UAE said the partnerships are intended to accelerate knowledge exchange and translate medical research and technological advances into practical healthcare applications, strengthening prevention, early detection and specialised care.

The initiative further expands the UAE–US healthcare relationship while supporting the UAE’s broader focus on advanced medicine, healthcare innovation and developing highly skilled medical capabilities.
